TEACHER TESTIMONIALS

Janet Stone

Internationally acclaimed Vinyasa Yoga Teacher based in San Francisco, USA

"From the moment we step onto the path toward Soulshine hearts comes a light, and we’re reminded to breathe deeply and to let the soul shine.

As we come into the sanctuary that is the gathering/family area, all differences are left behind, as we ascend the stairs to the nourishing practice space surrounded by traditional rice field on all sides, we remember, we remember what is important and all else melts away.

Soulshine is a place where community so naturally comes alive in both intentional practices and pure play. From leaping in the infinity pool to gathering at family style meals, to breathing and moving on the roof top yoga shala, to the kind and loving staff, it is a place where the soul is nourished and shines."

Les Leventhal

International Teacher of vinyasa/flow yoga, currently based in Bali (formerly San Francisco, USA)

"I've been on a retreat at Soulshine as a student and have lead a few retreats as the retreat leader too. Why do I go back time and time again? Maybe it's the amazing beds after doing so much hard work like yoga, massage, cooking classes, lying by the pool or watching the staff work endlessly to ensure that the people staying there are having an experience that is anything but where they came from and that makes us feel for that week, that Soulshine is our home (and maybe we should stay longer).

The food is amazing. So, if you wanted to, you can spend all of your time at the retreat center. I've shared rooms and have had one on my own. Both experiences, amazing with ample facilities for all to share. Central Ubud is close enough if you want to get there for some in town shopping, dining and cultural events and just far enough away to know what the word retreat means."

Gina Caputo

Teacher of Integrated Vinyasa Yoga, Boulder, Colorado, USA

"When you're guiding a group of trusting souls all the way across the globe to a retreat in a glorious, albeit very different, culture, it makes a huge difference for them to have a soft landing at a place like Soulshine Bali.

From that first potentially disorienting moment that you exit the airport, they are there to warmly welcome you. Once you arrive at Soulshine in Ubud, you're hit with the magnitude of the majesty of this land. The spiritual devotion of the people, including those who lovingly staff Soulshine, is unparalleled. There's a sense of steady calm at Soulshine that is salve to the busy soul.

The scenery is just epic - rice paddies as far as you can see, huge palms, lushness all around. The food is dangerously delicious (don't forget to eat the eggs, I've never had eggs better than Balinese eggs!) and the rooms are all thoughtfully appointed. The yoga practices on the rooftop deck deeply inspire. When I think of Soulshine, I take a great, deep breath and relax. It's like magic."

Kelly Kostecki

Teacher and Owner of Om On Yoga, Richmond, Virginia

"this place is so special and the Soulshine team so gracious and welcoming that it doesn't even compare to other retreat spots I've had the honor of traveling and teaching at. The friendships made with Agung, Wayan, Ade, Atik, Jack, Oka... warmed the hearts of are entire group."

Debra Williamson

Founder/creator Wild Abundant Life

"I have worked with a large number of retreat centers and other venues over the years for my special events and programs, and Soulshine is one of the very best! Resort Manager, Carla Swanson,is highly responsive, friendly, creative and accommodating - working with her and the rest of the staff is pure ease and loads of fun. The grounds are beautiful and inviting, and we felt instantly at home. The entire staff has great global awareness and every detail was looked after with some requests being met even before we asked! Even the kitchen staff was amazing - presenting meals of the highest caliber each and every day."

Michelle Fife

Founder of Seva Yoga, Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

"I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to lead the very first retreat at Soulshine in Ubud, Bali. The facility is literally breathtaking and there is not a bad view to be found on the property. As a teacher, I use the practice of Yoga to guide my students on an inspiring journey of liberation. Being able to do this in such a space as Soulshine only makes my job easier. Practicing in the environment offered there is almost otherworldly, from the morning chants of the local inhabitants to the sounds of nature that surround you. The staff at the center could not be more friendly and helpful. We all felt like family, the center itself providing all of the comforts of home. I cannot wait to return!"
